In the early 1930s, William G.G. Benway, a hearing aid inventor and dispenser, established northeastern New Yorks first practice in Albany, N.Y. Severely impaired himself, Benway began inventing hearing aid devices. His spectaphone, a bone oscillator in eyeglasses and his wholly-recessed receiver in-the-ear put him far ahead of his time. The tradition continues as the areas oldest practice remains a trend-setter with background-noise reduction instruments, digital technology and something that would make our late founder proud: care!
